GRAMMY Camp St. Paul 2014
My name is Alejandra Matheu-Rios, I am an eighteen-year-old from Henderson, Nev.. After a season ending injury, the soccer field was no longer my muse and I quickly turned to music to fill the void. Collecting records allowed me to explore different genres of music and most importantly, I began to learn about the music industry. For the past three years, my passion for the music industry has intensified, from learning how to DJ, to learning about the business and journalism sides of music. By attending the College of Southern Nevada High School, I have been able to take college classes in music business and journalism, allowing me to further explore my passion and drive to learn about the music industry.
I am so excited to be a member of the GRAMMY in the Schools Media Team because I will have hands on experience improving my knowledge and skills in the music field. I am extremely excited to interview the GRAMMY Camp – Jazz Session students and want to learn more about their life stories and talents. I also look forward to sharing with you how this program will make these students better musicians. I know that this shared experience with the jazz students will make me a better journalist. It will be exciting to interact with established artists at events and red carpets because this onsite experience will better prepare me for a future in the music industry.
